Royal Intern. Air Tattoo RAF Fairford 9 July 2016

The Royal International Air Tattoo 2016 edition was certainly one of the most remarkable of recent years. Main theme of this years event was "The Next Generation". In 2014 the participation of the F-35 Lightning II was cancelled on short notice as the F-35's were all grounded due to an engine fire. This year we saw the revenge as no less than six F-35's flew across the Atlantic to participate in both the Royal International Air Tattoo at RAF Fairford as the Farnborough International Airshow.

As soon as I heard the F-22 Raptors were participating in this years event I booked my seat for the bustour with KNVOL. I've seen the display of the F-22 Raptor a few times, still I'm impressed by the manoeuvrability of this neat looking aircraft. Besides these fifth generation fighters, the RIAT saw many other fighter displays.

The weather as flucutating a lot during the day. In the morning it was pretty cloudy, but during the morning we had a fair amount of sunny spells.   (Click here for a full log)
