Market Garden Eindhoven,  18/19 September 2015

Last year we celebrated the 70th anniversary of Operation Market Garden. Although not as big as last year, the commemoration this year was one to remember as well. In the days prior the event the para drop exercise Falcon Leap was held for the first time. The first participant to arrive at Eindhoven AB was the C-17A Globemaster III of the 437 AW based at Charleston AFB, SC. The C-17A made its debut this year, as in previous event the USAF used their C-130's for the para drops over the Ginkelse Heide.

Besides the C-17A, two German C-160 Transall, a Belgian  C-130, a Dutch C-130 and a Dakota of the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight participated in the Market Garden commemoration drops over the Ginkelse Heide. Just like the past few years I took the opportunity to take some night shots of the aircraft. Unfortunately the weather during the big day was just like last year, foggy and cloudy. The morning drops were again cancelled due to low clouds over the drop zone. So I was able to take a look inside the cockpit of the impressive C-17. In the afternoon the weather cleared and the drops could finally take place.
