GRAS Spottersday Gilze-Rijen,  29 August 2012

The Gilze-Rijen Aviation Society (GRAS) is an aviation association active around the Gilze-Rijen Airbase by and for plane spotters and aviation enthusiasts of all ages and levels. It is an active association for its members over 350 various activities and visits organized. The magazine "Take-Off" appears four times a year with articles and photos that are supplied by the members themselves.

On Wednesday 29 August the GRAS organized a nice spottersday for their members at Gilze-Rijen Airbase. As there were only limited places a lot of people found a nice spot along the fence, so did I. From one o'clock in the afternoon a nice variety of aircraft visited Gilze-Rijen for some spectacular approaches.

It all started with several approaches by a C-130J-30 from Ramstein Airbase. Also coming from Germany were two EF2000's, a Tiger Tornado from Lechfeld and no less than four Bö-105's. The highlight of the day were a total of four A-10's from Spangdahlem Airbase which did two approaches each.   (Click here for a log)
