Brazilians visiting Rotterdam Airport,  10 April 2008

The beginning of April brought a few very nice visitors to the airport of Rotterdam-Zestienhoven. The Brazilian President visited the Netherlands and this resulted in three Brazilian airliners to visit Rotterdam. Two VC-96's and a VC-1A.

The Brazilian Air Force received two Boeing 737-200 in 1976 to replace the old BAC 1-11 (VC-92). De Boeing 737's were designated as VC-96 and received serial 2115 and 2116. Both are allocated to the Grupo de Transporte Especial (GTE). In 2005 the Brazilians received a Airbus 319 which was designated as VC-1A. This one was has serial 2101 and is also operated by the GTE.

On April 10th Mike, Niels and I drove to Rotterdam to see two of the three aircraft. The 2116 already visited Rotterdam on the 6th but left one day later. During our visit we were able to take some evening shots of the 2101, parked at the ramp, which arrived on the 9th. Later in the evening the 2115 arrived and was parked in front of the VC-1A. Both aircraft left Rotterdam-Zestienhoven again on April 11th.
