ELITE (Electronic Warfare Live Training Exercise) which takes place in Southern Germany brings always a nice variety of exotic planes to some airbases in the Baden-Württemberg/Bayern area.
Main operating bases this year are Ingolstadt-Manching and Lechfeld. The first airbase which also hosts the WTD 61 test squadron of the German Air Force will host six F-18 Hornets of the Finnish Air Force and five F/A-18 Hornets of the Swiss Air Force. Lechfeld hosts besides their own JBG 32 also six Turkish and three Hellenic F-16's, three F-4E Phantoms of the Turkish Air Force, two Tornado Gr.4's of the Royal Air Force, three EF-18A Hornets of the Spanish Air Force and last but not least two Su-22 Fitters of the Polish Air Force.
During the exercise the Truppenübungsplatz Heuburg will be heavily attacked by the participation ELITE aircraft which fly two missions a day. Here a small report on the arrivals and the first day of the exercise. (Click here for a full log of two days spotting) |
