Static Display & Rehearsals,  3 June 2006

On June 3rd we left our apartment in Benidorm around 5.30 o’clock and drove towards San Javier. Here we were expected at the AGA main gate to join the rest of the spotters. Unfortunately the aircraft on the static display were parked between big yellow/blue fences which made it extremely difficult to take some good pictures of them. Also the weather didn’t help at all during the morning, it had been raining and a big deck of clouds was overhead the field. Despite this all I did take some pictures which you can find below.

Around 10 o’clock in the morning we walked to the meeting point, from where we walked towards a nice spot on the south side of the runway. On our way we walked around the flightline where I also took a few pictures. When we arrived at our spot along the runway the rehearsals were already underway. Sadly we missed the display of the Spanish Air Force Hornet. Most of the display teams showed their stuff during the afternoon when the sun finally came through. It was even pretty hot along the runway during the rest of the afternoon.

Highlights of the show were the freshly painted Alpha Jets of the Asas de Portugal, the Alouette III’s of the Rotores de Portugal and the Spanish helicopter display team Patrulla Aspa. After a EC.120B Colibri’s of the Patrulla Aspa landed we walked back towards our meeting point. On our way back we visited some hangars which had some C-101’s, T-35’s and SZD-30 gliders inside. When we walked back towards the AGA main gate we took some pictures of the gate guards as you can see below. Later on we drove back towards our appartment in Benidorm.
