KLu Opendays  Gilze-Rijen AB,  18 June 2005

Because of the heavy traffic jams on Friday we decided to depart early in the morning. Around 6.15 o'clock Bart, Mo and I drove towards Gilze-Rijen AB. Only 40 minutes later we already arrived, so we had to wait for an hour before the gates opened. At least we had a nice spot near the fence throughout the day.

The weather was great, hardly any clouds and a nice warm temperature. The static display was very small this year, and the way the aircraft were parked made it almost impossible to take good pictures of them. Luckily most of the aircraft parked at the static display arrived on Thursday, so we were able to take shots of them during landing.

Besides the highlights already mentioned in the other sections the Irish Beech was a very welcome addition to the static display. The highlights of the flying display were the Dutch Apache and F-16 demonstrations both using flares. And of course the Austrian Air Force Draken which will be withdrawn from use later this year.
