During the
show days I was able to leave my working spot for some moments to
take some nice sunny shots of the static display. At the beginning
of the static display a red-white-blue painted F-16 was parked. This
(wfu) F-16 was painting in the familiar prototype color scheme of
the 70s, to commemorate the 25th anniversary of the F-16 in Dutch
service.
It was very
disappointing to see only some Dutch, Belgian and Italian F-16s at
Volkel AB. The main theme was the anniversary of the Dutch F-16, so
I expected at least some more F-16 users. There were even some
Norwegian and Danish F-16s parked at Leeuwarden for the FWIT. So why
not invite them?
Anyway, I'm
happy introduced the plan to invite the Italian F-16s to the
organization, which resulted in two nice participants. At the time I
walked across the static display, the Royal Navy Harrier were still
in covers. This was very disappointing as I didn't had the time to
wait for them to remove the covers. The camouflaged AMX of the
Italians was one of my personal favorites. |
