Departures,  20/21 June 2004

The first aircraft already departed on Saturday, including the Dutch KDC-10 which can be seen on the right. To give some of the participants the opportunity to depart Volkel AB was open for a few hours on Sunday the 20th.

Both the French and Italian aerobatic teams departed from Volkel AB during the Sunday opening. To support the aerobatic teams both air forces brought a C-130 Hercules to Volkel AB. Especially the French Hercules was very welcome as the are rarely seen for some reason. Normally the Patrouille de France team uses the Transall as support aircraft. The highlight of the day was the nice sunny departure of the French Mirage 2000N.

On Monday most of the aircraft departed from Volkel AB. Again I had to work at the local control bunker so I was able to take some shots of almost every aircraft that departed that day. Unfortunately the weather was very cloudy again this day, which resulted in some very grey pictures. Today the highlights were the Brits with their Sea Harriers and the mighty Nimrod.
