Royal Intern. Air Tattoo  RAF Fairford,  17 July 2004

For the first time in five years I visited the Royal International Air Tattoo at RAF Fairford again. This time I went there together with my brother Rick. He's not an airplane spotter like me, but he just likes to watch the show.

On Friday evening we left by bus, organized by Holland Aviation Travel. In the early morning we arrived at RAF Fairford, and again we were surprise by the size of the event. Like every year the RIAT is worlds biggest airshow, with lots of highlights. Like every year the Americans send a big delegation to RAF Fairford, including the B-1B, B-2A, B-52H and lots of other hardware.

Besides these US giants for me the real highlights of this years RIAT were the Lithuanian L-39, the L-410 of the Estonian Border Guard and the awesome display of the F-18F Super Hornet. The weather during the day was pretty unstable, but most of the time it was sunny and warm. This made it a lot easier to take some good shots. After a pleasant ride back, we arrived back home early Sunday morning.  (Click here for a log)
