Meeting National BA709 Cagnac,  15 May 2004

On the late evening of may 14th Mo, Jeff, Dave and me began our long weekend trip to Southern France to visit the Meeting National at BA709 Cognac-Châteaubernard and Dax-Seyresse. The main theme of the Meeting at Cognac was the 70th anniversary of the Armée de l'air. Therefore no less than seventy TB-30 trainers were parked at the static display!! After a few stops at Paris-Charles de Gaulle and Le Bourget where we read some military aircraft in the middle of the night we arrived at the glider airfield Saintes-Thénac. Here we were able to read a Jodel, some Gliders and a few preserved aircraft.

The Meeting National at Cognac was on the 16th, but the organization did a great job by organizing a spottersday the day before. This gave us the opportunity to take some nice shots of the arrivals, rehearsals and the static display. The next day we visited Cognac again, this time in the morning as we were able to enter the base two hours prior the official opening. This again resulted in some nice shots, without too many people walking around the aircraft.  (Click here for a full log of the weekend)
