After our
visit at Szentkirályszabadja, the museum at Szolnok was on the list.
When we arrived at Szolnok we saw that the museum was closed. Endre
and Dávid told us they had some friends in the Hungarian Air Force
who worked at Szolnok. After a few phone calls a guy came with a key
and opened the gate of the museum.
We were told
we had about an hour to take some pictures and to write down the
numbers. We were even allowed to climb over the small fences to get
the best shots. The light wasn't good during our visit, but we were
pretty happy with the few shots we took.
After our
private visit at the museum we went to the other side of Szolnok to
see some operational and stored aircraft parked at the platform. We
parked the car on a dirt road, from here we had a nice view on the
ramp. Besides several Mi-8s and An-26s we also saw approximately
eight Yak-52s. Unfortunately we were unable to read any on these
trainers. Later that evening we drove to Cegléd where we stayed in a
motel. We can look back to a very good first day in Hungary. |
